Empire: How did you guys come together and work to as a unit?
Prozak: I was working on a project and the first person I had in mind to do production was Mike, I tracked him down by threatening some kids wife for his phone number and after a series of not being able to get a hold of him, I finally got a hold of him and got into his studio and started working on some tracks.
And that’s when we came up…; well actually that’s when Mike came up with Project Dead man. That’s pretty much the short version of the story.

MEC: Yea, That’s about it. It started out as a Prozac solo album and I knew we were going to have problems using the name Prozac, cause it’s a drug, we thought we couldn’t come with a product called Prozac because of the trademark.
The more we started working on it the more it became more of a group because I was doing production and vocals, choruses and some verse. We decided to make it a project, and I was like we will call it a project, a Project Dead Man. That was the first thing out of my mouth so I asked my friend about it and he said “Yea,Yea Project Dead Man!!!” It just really fell out of my mouth really, that’s how it started.

Empire: So musically it all just kind of evolved?
MEC: Yea, a lot of the tracks we both already had in the works, I had a few tracks and Prozac just started writing to it. He already had some of the tracks in the works with Tech N9ne and Dayton family but once it became Project Dead Man. It all started to come together.

Empire: So what’s it like for you (Prozac) to work with Mike E. Clark knowing his background and everything?
Prozak: That’s perfect, it was what I was looking for. I was just trying to get a couple of tracks at best. I’m glad it came to be what it is. I think it’s the perfect mixture I mean if you’re going to do wicked rap, or horror rap then who better to do it with then Mike E. Clark.

MEC: Once we started working together it just flowed, it felt too good to not turn it into a full project.

Empire: So how has translated live, I mean I see all the projection and the video clips and stuff?
MEC: It’s going really good live, when we were making the record I wasn’t thinking about doing live shows for some reason. But once we started putting the show together it just worked out.
Prozak: This whole album was like art, when we did PMD, we were not thinking about distribution, a deal, or shows….
MEC: We were just making a underground album, we were going to sell out of our trunk. We are not trying to get a deal at all, we were going to put it out on B4 Records, underground, the internet, or out of our trunk.

Empire: So then how’d it go from B4 Records to a Strange Music release?
Prozak: Well, I was working for Travis O’glenn (Strange Music) for a year, and when I started working with Mike I was in constant contact with Travis, with what I was working on with Strange. He was like, “What’s up with your album is it done?” We were like yea, so he asked us to send him a copy, within a day he called and asked us if we could be there in 2 days. We went out to Hollywood to negotiate the deal and it was a done deal. It’s a perfect setup, I mean me and Mike together is perfect and us with strange music is even better. It was meant to be before we even started recording it. It was just something that fell right into place.
MEC: I’m glad it worked that way. We had the album completely done before we went out to California. I was getting ready to send it out to get pressed, I wasn’t even looking for anyone to put my record out either. Once we went out to Strange and saw how together they were and how they treat their people and what they were talking about it just clicked.
Prozak: Strange Music is phenomenal. Strange is just going to be big.
MEC: Their people are beautiful. Everyone is treated like a human being. They are all respected I mean everyone from the management down to the road crew. Everyone is treated equally. They have a lot of respect for everyone. The fans, their people, and money which is good they don’t go wasting it.
Prozak: Plus how hard they work for everyone. I mean last year Tech did almost 100 shows and there’s only 365 days in the year plus recording and all the other things Tech is obligated to. Shows how much Strange Music works. Strange music is a work horse, that’s best way to put it I guess.

Empire: Are in a long term thing with Strange Music?
Prozak: We signed a very lengthy contract we are gonna be on strange for a long time.
MEC: 5 albums 1 is done we have 4 more to do.
Prozac: And then some
MEC: Hell yea

Empire: How do you describe what Project Dead Man is all about? To you, how would you describe the sound and feel?
Prozak: To me its wicked shit but its more then wicked shit, with Mike as a producer you never know what he is gonna do when he does something different then I do something different. And on the next album I can only

imagine how different it’s gonna get, so I don’t even know how to clarify it I guess.
MEC: Its an experiment, a journey a project, its art , its music, a record. I really don’t know what it is. It’s us expressing ourselves us doing the shit we like to do and hopefully everyone else likes too.

Empire: Is there anything you want the readers to know about anything your doing?
MEC: We have only just begun!
Prozak: It’s gonna get even more intense.
MEC: Yea, now that we have gotten this deal with Strange Music, we are really excited. The shows are great, we are getting a lot of great feed back. This is the beginning.
Prozak: Self Inflicted just scratched the surface. When we recorded our last track that’s when we wanted to do the most.
MEC: “All My Life” and “Day of the Dead” were the last songs we added to the record. That’s when we found ourselves and it’s good to be back, and to have an avenue to make these kinds of records with Prozac. I finally found someone that I can work with.

Empire: I’m glad you two came together. Who would’ve known that of all people to work with it ended up being you two who make a great pair?
MEC: It feels good to have things working again.
Prozak: The main thing is about our next album, I can’t wait to start recording it.
MEC: And now not having to stay in the studio but also going out and performing on stage as well. Then doing the visual and graphics, and taking out on the road, seeing how they react. It’s good being in control of it.
Prozak: And the thing with the shows, we try to bring them into our world and Mikes on stage with the turntables laying down tracks live and us throwing fans off stage trying to bring them into our shows.

MEC: And with the video that helps to bring them further into our world. This is just a showcase of us coming out with Strange Music. Once the Second Album comes out then our shows will truly come together.

Empire: I don’t really have anything else for you guys. So is there anything else you want to say?
MEC: Strange music is the shit, They don’t get in your way.
Prozak: Cleveland and Mushroomhead are the shit!!!
