13 Questions With Ilyn
1. How did you get into music and what was your first band like?
A.)I got into music from my father. I used to go over to his house and he would be blasting pink floyd or the doors.
I remember sitting around a camp fire with m father and listening to one of these days by Pink Floyd and thinking this is it. This is what i would liketo do with my life.
2. Of all the shows you've played, what would you say is the craziest thing you've ever seen?
A.)The craziest thing I've ever seen damn theres a lot. There wasone show when i was younger though that i was a little to tipsy and i remember the crowd seeing a little more of me then they wanted to haha. As far as other sights though i remember seeing some kid stage dive off a balcony I thought for sure he was gonna die. He was ok though thankfully.
3. Girls who follow bands religously can get a little nuts. Can you tell us about the nuttiest chick you ever encountered at a show?
A.)umm. Most have been quite pleasant actually. I did have a girl that punched me in the face at one of our shows once though that was pretty nutty yet at the same time kinda badass of her so im kinda torn haha.
4. What was the worste experience you've ever had on a stage?
A.)Worst oh man damn you know i dont hide anything. Well when i was in my younger days i remember doing one to many party favors and looking around and not even realizing i was playing in a band. Then i just passed out though. Lets see there was that and getting a beer bottle slammed into my face at a show in london yeah that really sucked.
5. Musicians have many different reasons for loving music and performing. What are your reasons?
A.)its just something thats in my blood. I get out most of my anxiety and world related problems through it.If I go more then a week without playing i feel lost like a big piece of me is missing.
6. You are currently in a new project. Tell us about it?
A.)Yes I am Im actually in a project I met up with Anthony Reboudo from the cleveland Band the Jodi Grind. He actually moved down to Tampa a few years back. Met up with him and Jason Winter from a band called The Truce and Jeremy Kestenbaum from The Know How(Warner, Stomp).We have a project called the Springfield Cubs right now. Dont laugh because of the name. We may sound cute but we'll eat some faces haha. We started off as more of a sraight forward rock band and now its evolved a lot. The newer stuff we are recording is very epic sounding its amazing i think but im biased.
7. Of all the projects you've been involved in, which do you feel was the most successfull and why?
A.)I think we all succeeded in our own ways. Im proud of every band I've been in because I've learned So much from all of them and played with so many great musicians . I cant say I've really liked any more then the other. They were all fun for me and all it takes to succeed is to have fun.Its not about album sales, what tours we've been on, awards or any of that. Just simple good times thats what the real trophies were.
8. Which project do you feel was the most fun?
A.)haha i just answered that one. But honestly the group of guys im with now are great and im having lots of fun.
9. Can you tell us about the house party riot when you played for Vyne?
A.)oh god haha umm. Blood, Beer, more blood, broken tables, broken televisions, more blood, cops, stiches, and more beer haha I think i got stabbed by a spear as well somewhere in the mix.
10. Who is the biggest schyster that you have ever encountered in the music business?
A.)Ummm haha I think i keep myself quiot on that one but i think you know already. Im not one for calling anyone out in interviews.
11. What are some of your future plans, music wise and personally?
A.)Well my future plans are to rock out until i die really. Got this new project thats awesome. Personally I dont know i dont think of myself to much.I just wanna play.
12. If you could make a career wish list, what would be on it?
A.)First off everyone im playing with now would be. and To be able to relive it all again when i die thats my wish list. Oh and more beer please.
