Scars on our music scene - Issue
#4 Jan - Feb 2004 |

I’m gonna rant here for a while. If you in a local band you
should read this, because I just might be taking to you. There have
sprung up a handful of bands in this area that think they are the greatest
band in the land. Granted they have a few fair songs but that’s
about as far as it goes. They portray the attitude that they do not
have to pay their dues like every other band who is struggling to keep
things moving. These few bands have come across my path and made me
realize that there are definitely a group of people that do not deserve
our attention. I know buy printing this they are in turn getting our
attention, but that is why their names have been omitted. Further more
these few bands in a sea of wonderful, extremely talented and hard working
bands have put a scar on the face of our scene and must be removed before
they destroy it even more. I speak of bands who can bring in a mere
20-30 people and demand hundreds of dollars for there lack luster performance.
The clubs have been wise enough to see that there was no promise in
this band and did the appropriate thing, gave them $20 and sent them
along their way, back to there home and pizza delivery jobs. Another
incident caused by the same nameless band erupted into a fight which
spilled out into the back lot of another club, led by their so called
manager. It’s actions like these that will undoutbly get this
band attention along with keep them from playing any club in the area.
This article or rant as it is called will most defiantly find its way
into the hands on the bands that I speak of. And once again they will
crank up the bullshit factory and tell the locals that they backed me
into a corner and put me in my place. But the reality is they will once
again sit in the corner of a darkened club, throw labels from their
beer bottles at me, and run and hide when I approach them or call their
name. I wonder what goes through the mind of a simpleton at this level.
Does he think he is part of the next Korn, Metallica of Limp Bizkit?
How could somebody be so foolish as to carry out these actions and tarnish
any sliver of credibility that the band has. This industry like any
other has a great deal of learning built into it. You must know when,
where and how to act at all times. The music business is a cut throat
one and I will do all in my power to cut the throat of these bands.
They are a pestilence on our land. They are an evil that should be destroyed
at all costs. This type of band should not be allowed to continue. |
