Static X – Cannibal
stsic x

Opening with chops straight out of the Ministry handbook, Static X launches into another stellar release under the Warner Brothers imprint. From the first track it is evident that the band has re-established themselves as a force in the metal scene, a badge that they sadly have not been worth to wear in several years. The guitars are fast, furious and crunchy as hell. Guitar solos, yes, I said solos, sound like somebody bought a DragonForce CD and remembered why he started to play guitar. Wayne’s vocals have not been this engrossing since Wisconsin Deathtrip. Behemoth is a track that lets you know that the guys still have sense of humor and enough musical prowess to pull it off.

In this job I hear so much music and it is very rare that a release grabs me and makes me want more and more and more. This is that 1 in 100. I highly suggest that you pick this CD up. You will not be disappointed. Go... put the magazine down and go now.

One thing that I’ve found out after listening to the previous Static-X albums there comes a point when I wonder which album I’m listening to. It’s always the same sound with a new CD. The one appealing thing I’m looking forward to is having a slightly different melodic anger for my city driving frenzies.
