This Tuesday is the release of Wu Tang’s newest kung fu kick to the teeth in the form of “8 Diagrams” LP. I recently had a chance to really sit down and listen to this, and I must say that this may be one of the strongest showings from the Wu in a long while.
Of course this release contains multiple kung fu movie clips and typical, but still tasty, Wu Tang tracks, but it also contains some surprises, such as “The Heart Gently Weeps”, a remix of the Beatles “My Guitar Gently Weeps”, showing that even the W can tug at your heart strings when they choose to, to the banger “Get em Out Your Way Pa” insisting those in the way… MOVE, to the ODB dedicated “Life Changes” featuring the Wu Tang Clan paying homage to and remembering one the most influential voices in hip hop history, not to mention their dear friend, Ol’ Dirty.
The RZA could be the most talented producer in the game, surpassing expectations and just brining it at every track drop, and Method Man and Ghostface are nothing short of lyrical samurais!
If you are a Wu Tang fan, this is a must have cd, and if you’re unfamiliar with Wu Tang then it may be in your best interest to pick this up because this release is the epitome of Wu.
On guard! Beware the Wu Tang sword style! |
