The icons of the hardcore underground, Madball, are at it again with their traditional rhythm-heavy guitar crunch. Vocalist Freddy Crisien’s guttural growls lay atop pristine production on this most recent release from a band that formed in the late 80s. Madball falls into the rut that many other hardcore bands get stuck in, where in their efforts to be the hardest and toughest, they lose sight of the craft of dynamic song writing. While trying to portray the polar opposite of a hip hop artist, they in essence, mirror them with their “I’m tougher and cooler than you” lyrics. Overall, this is a strong release from a band that has stuck to their guns from the beginning. The simplistic driving rhythms are sure to induce circle pits all the hardcore world wide. If you’ve ever been a fan of hardcore, you’ll love it, if not, this is a good place to start!(Spleen)
Ever wonder why Coke-a-Cola changed its recipe in the late 80’s early 90’s?
I have, as well as why do the people that make all the other things I love, keep changing them!
Let’s ponder this…
I was happy with my T.V., music & fast food when I was a kid. I never asked anyone to change it but they did. No more Blossom, cassettes & Big Macs in Styrofoam containers... well maybe some change is for the better, but not for Madball. This CD makes me happy in all the same ways as Christina Applegate did. Bad Ass then, Bad Ass now. Check’em out on tour this winter.(Dj Cirrossis) |
