Ludo – You’re Awful, I Love You Unlike most of the Empire staff, I’m not a big Emo hater. However, after listening to this CD, I might renege my feelings for whiny, droning “squishy rock”. The CD starts out promising with “Love Me Dead”, but goes downhill from there. Most of the songs sound very similar, with harmonies that will constantly poke you in the heart of your annoyance center. Overall, I’d say listen to tracks “Love Me Dead” and “Mutiny Below” and then turn it off quickly before it’s ruined for you. It wouldn’t take much to make these songs good, but Ludo lacks the originality to do so. I look forward to a future album where they change up the rhythms and create some interesting hooks that grab your soul.
