Arch Enemy: Rise of the Tyrant

Angela Gossow is a hot chick singer that can make most men her bitch , Previous Michael Amott  bands  (Google it, I’m to slow of a typist)  Guitar & Amp endorsements , blah blah blah…..It seems reviews of Arch Enemy are plagued with this stuff! I’m going to do the unheard of, review the album. Not give a history lesson or preach the obvious.

Rise of the Tyrant is a must for even the casual metal fan.  It is diverse and uncompromising, brutal and loving at the same time like a punch in the face while having sweet nothings whispered in your ear.

For the straight up metal track such as  Blood on Your HandsNight Falls Fast  In this Shallow Grave ,  the band opens up and shows that they can thrash and be epic at the same time. Some of my favorite tracks, I Will Live Again  The Day You Died  are great examples of this .  However Revolution Begins  is hands down my favorite track.  I might be the only person to ever reference White Zombie to Arch Enemy but I say it as I hear it & here it is … This track kicks f*ckin’ ass!  With its old school intro & verses, White Zombie/Pantera grooves in the pre-chorus this song is a breath of fresh air.  It shows innovation & inspiration can go hand in hand. Fans of Michael Amott be sure to check out Intermezzo Libert, a great instrumental track, short and to the point. The dude says a lot in a little time.

Fans of Arch’s live shows will love the Great Darkness,  this song is sure to be a highlight of their live show. You can almost feel the connection between fans and the band in your living room or car! Let alone on stage & in the crowd.  Picture heads banging in unison & devil horns flying like a metal Macarena.

The Albums closer Vulture clocks in at 6:35 and leaves nothing to the imagination. The band drives home who they are and where they have been .I like to think of it as a steamroller on nitrous.
